How in the crap do you freakin knock people down?! I've never done this before but everyone talks about doing it.

I had the impression there was a way to knock someone down without actually taking there life down all the way and killing them. My bad, Thanks.

you don't usually kill peopl that way only real enemies but you nick npcs out, and can than kill them if you like too

If you kill an NPC or only knock him out depends on his attitude to you. Enemies are killed, others knocked down.

humans are knocked down with your sword, monsters die right away. if sb is knocked down you can finish him off (kill him) by just attacking him. the player then will stab him in the heart.
P.S: you might confuse knocked down with killed but after a while the knocked down guy will get up and when he is down he'll be breathing
P.P.S: human enemys can knock you down too |

bandits are instatly killed ..so every one who's attacking you on sight ...not after insult or your attack (except thieves and two blackmailing mercenaries on akil's farm or ...well maybe there's more of exceptions)...when somebody spot you and attacks right away, that can't be just knocked down ..
