For everyone tired of the usual medieval RPG settings, here is a small preview ahead of our beta and website launch later next month.

Visit my old site at http://www.angelfire.com/rpg/claimingsanctuary and tell me what you think of the game graphics and general storyline and setting.

Well, I can't say I'm tired of the usual medieval settings, but I don't mind other settings sometimes, and your setting and story sounds interesting.

I only saw one small picture, so I can't comment too much on the graphics, but the one I saw looks great.

In what ways will the game appeal to hardcore RPGers? I'd be interested to hear a little about the game mechanics. If I just need to wait until next month for the new website, that's fine.

I will be posting screenshots in a weeks time. As in how we cater for the hardcore community, we make a point in talking to players and gaining their feedback. I've done eight months of recearch on rpgs and here is the crux. Yes it is also impossiple to please everyone and if you are a true hardcore gamer you probably will want TB instead of RT.

Here are my main design rules:
*cater to the fantasies of the player
*player wants to know their interaction counts in what happens in the world
*rewards - players need to be rewarded for doing something good (trap them in going forward)
*the player needs to know that the game will always provide what is neccessary to win
*the player needs to know that the game reality is fair
*the player needs to gain mastery over the game
*hardcore gamers want a challenge and a great amount of detail
*don't give the player the answer he needs, but let him discover what to do.... dialogue should not shower you with hints, but a various amount of interaction should let you slowly evolve the answer yourself

As on the game mechanics, a lot of work still lies there, but expect more details there in the next weeks, since we will be hoping for feedback from the community to improve aspects.

More later.

Wow, the music's really atmospheric - it really gives me shivers (well, kinda).

I hope it's TB, and I hope we'll be able to control ALL our party members.

Can't really comment on too much about the game, though...
