ROSE Online and Legend of Mir 3 Shut Down for Lack of Funds |
|
Anyone attempting to visit the official European sites for ROSE Online or Legend of Mir 3 today was greeted with an ominous message that lack of investor funding has resulted in the ISP that hosts both games to halt its services. Both games and all their sites and forums are apparently out of service for an uncertain amount of time.

Unfortunately, due to two investors unable to commit to previous funding promises, we regret to inform you that our ISP have now terminated their service.

Naturally this will result in the loss of service for the Legend of Mir 3 and R.O.S.E Online games and will also mean all websites are also affected.

To contact the support team please send your enquiries to admin@qualitygo.com, but please be aware that we will be experiencing high volume of traffic and will probably mean a delay in your response.

We can only apologise for this but please keep checking here and we will keep you updated as we progress with this issue.

Woah.
Can someone with more knowledge please clarify?
What relation do the lack of investor funding for a game and Internet Service Providers have? Or is the game development adequately funded but they lost their ISP only? It seems like an important difference for subscribers. |

I don't have more knowledge of the issue but it reads to me that investors didn't give the ROSE Europe operator extra funds, so the ISP realised they couldn't pay and pulled the plug. _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |

Another site that picked up the story tried contacting the publisher but got no response. It would seem to me like an Internet connection would be one of the first priorities that an MMO publisher would have in terms of which bills to pay (employee salaries? ha! they get to play video games for a living and that's payment enough!), and if they can't afford their pipe, it doesn't seem to bode well for the games' futures. _________________ For each toon kills the mob he 'groes, yet each toon does not die. |

So the ISP realized the developer could not afford to pay for an internet connection because said devs lost funding from investors?
And to think John Romero is getting millions to make Daikatana Online. |

That appears to be the case, but to be clear, Gamesrouter (whose own site is offline as well) is just the European publisher of those games, not the developer of either. Both games are still up and running in their native territories; it's only the licensed European versions that are affected. (Although we have a global staff at RPGDot/MMORPGDot, English is the only common language among us, so we usually only report on English language versions of games.)
