I can't finalize a trade... I got the item I want to buy from the traders screen (left) to the middle screen and my payment from my screen (right) to the middle screen also.
I then highlight a middle screen (tried both of them) and choose to accept the trade...but then nothing happens.
Both things just stay in the middle screens.
If I choose cancel or back, however, then it does what it's supposed to do...cancel the trade or go back a screen.
What am I doing wrong here?

Trading is a bit tricky. First choose everything you want to buy (on the left) and move it to middle-left. Then match the value displayed above the column. If you canīt match it, bid slightly more. If you offer less than expected it will not work; there is no bargaining.
Select the middle-right column before you finish the trade.
You can move 1, 10 or 100 units at once. For the alternative keyboard controls (ASDW) the commands are:
1 - arrow left/arrow right
10 - control a/d
100 - control+l.shift a/d

I've done just that and it still won't work.
FYI, I'm trying to buy a joint from Dexter 
In the middle screen it says a big 10 on the right bottom cornor but a small 80 on the upperleft corner.
I gather it's the big 10 I have to match (80 seems way too much for a joint, hehe) and I do so with coins untill I see a big 10 in coins.
It simply won't work. It won't accept the trade for some reason.
Perhaps buying drugs in the game is illegal?

Ah, the joint  - well, as far as I remember, coins are useless in Gothic. Pay with ore or other goods. I am sitting at work right now, so I can't try things out, but if memory serves me right, you just have to match the value of goods, don't mix up the amount with the value then. And enjoy your smoke *g*

Yes the money in Gothic is ore (Erz)
but u can exchange other goods as well, only coints r useless.
Better i make a screenshot while buying a joint. |

I had to switch to the alternative controls to make it work. Somehow I had changed the original controls too much and couldn't get just 1 item to trade but only 10 or 100 at a time.
Also I didn't realize that coins aren't worth anything in Gothic. Trading a few other items did the trick.
Now I'm able to trade and I've enjoyed the "green novice" swamp weed

There is a BUG in the control setup.
Twice now I've somehow managed to disable the following (after re-binding keys):
-being able to pick up items from the ground
-being able to swap 1/10/100 items in trade
When I RESET the keys, and then rebind them the problem goes away.
I read a LOT of people simply giving up on the game because they can't pick stuff up on the ground using ACTION KEY+UP ARROW after doing simple rebinds.
Better fix this ASAP. |
