I want to enjoy this game... really I do. But it is a true Dejavu. I remembering enjoying Ultima IX for about an hour until I crashed. At least gothic flaunts this error in my face after about 30 min. I read somewhere it was something the Miles sound Driver. Look at my specs below, I tried EAX2 and DirectSound HW. Both have crashed me within an hour. Anyone know a cure? I was really getting into this game but this error is pushing my patience. I dont want to return it. Anyone else having this issue?

30 min before a crash? I can't. Thats just when you get in deep. Even if I just saved, it still annoying. It's moronic that this wasnt discovered BEFORE shipping to the US. Thank goodness this kinda thing NEVER happens in Wizardry 8. This error is preventing me from enjoying, what appears to be, an excellent game. (at its core) I say it's a few patches away. I just hope they are on it. Or at least support it like Codemasters did with Flashpoint.

Are you sure you restarted Gothic after changing the sound provider? The soundcard has to be reinitialized.

Just a blind guess: I read there were problems with VIA-chipset based motherboard and sound blaster live/audigy cards. May be checking forums and FAQs at http://www.viahardware.com/ and http://www.amdmb.com/ can help can help? (the latter also has a specific forum for EPoX mobos).
Good Luck,

Gothic crashes on me too! I installed the German patch 1.08h . Although, it may fix a few bugs, everything, text wise, gets turned from English to German! Any ideas about making an English patch 1.08h? At least that way I don't have to learn to read German!
Thx. |

This is a known issue with DirectX 8.1 and Detonators, alsthough neither Microsoft nor NVidia want to take the blame for it. Not much you can do at the moment (this happens to a LOT of games, BTW, but the industry is keeping this low profile for obvious reasons)

Every time i try to log in to the game a message commes up that says:
"The MSS DLL is incorrectly installed in the windows system directory."
This is followed by another message saying:
"The MSS32.DLL file cannot start. Check the file to determin the problem."
I've tried to find out whats wrong with the file, but i can't find whats wrong! |
