Rush - 2112

Im playing old games, listening to old tunes from the 70s and 80s. I feel like I'm going to wake up any minute back in my hometown in Michigan or something. That wouldnt be an entirely bad thing, my hindsight being as keen as it is..

@Neo- sure that was their "pop sell-out" cd, but there's still enough bits and pieces to identify the Verve as a big name in the shoegaze pantheon.

@Val- good tune! You could say, it's quite good.

"Bright Undress" by An April March
(can't find a clip, but probably wouldn't appeal to all you metalheads anyway )

My Dying Bride - The Dreadful Hours

they even pick up the pace too(Raven and the Rose), actually alot of their songs speed up a bit, then slow back down to a crawl, switching between pained to angry. Theyre a strange band, but im glad i found them

Type O Negative - Bloody Kisses

This band is something else, I dont know whether to like them or hate them. This cd "Bloody Kisses" goes from absolutely cool doom and gloom metal in the first two songs, to like a "la la la" high school girl breakup song. Then back to some doom, some rock, and then it's time for another la la la high school girl swooning pop number that reminds me of an update to the Monkees or somthing.

A doom-sounding version of "Summer Breeze" by Seals and Croft? Im all for mixing it up cross-genres, but this guy warbling about "food on the table for two" or whatever in a doom dirge style is just laugh-inducing.

I have the strange urge to paint my nails black and go get one of those old metal lunchboxes. There's only one explanation - I've been suckered into buying a goth girl cd

@Samhain: I haven't listened to any Type O Negative other than "October Rust" in years (Well, Pandora played one good track too), but I have never tried "Bloody Kisses". I don't know if you'd like "October Rust" but it's pretty good in my opinion. Most of the stuff there is kinda slow and/or gloomy - on one hand there are great tracks like "Red Water (Christmas Mourning)" and "Haunted", but then there's "My girlfriend's girlfirend" which gave me a laugh.
