How many of you...

Had experiece with D&D before playing NWN? I had never so much as looked upon a die with more than 6 sides. So I am asking, am I the only one out there? Its not as bad now because we have a D&D vet living with us now (he can tell me that heavy armour is bad for a sorcerer )

Yes, played some PnP prior to NWN. I do enjoy a multiplayer game of NWN better than single...

Years and years of PnP xp here.

Not anymore though. My friend that i played with, he died a year ago.

There is nobody to play PnP with in a 100 mile radius.

I miss him. This sucks.

I played 3rd Edition D&D for a few months before starting NWN. I still had some getting used to to do with the game, though.

I'd only been playing for about 17 years before the game came out.

PnP, but 2nd edition

That was years ago, and 3rd edition might as well have been written in Swahili for as much as I understand it.

Lets see ... I began messing around with PnP D&D in 1977. My RPG playing time peaked in about 1982-83 while in a post graduate program with Space Opera, Dragon Quest and a little Chivalry and Sorcery. So I guess I've been playing D&D and realted games for ... gods! Am I really that old!???!? ... 27 years or so.

Look, mom! Someone resurrected a really old thread!

I have a bit of RP experience, but NWN was the first time I tried something based on 3E rules. I was pleasantly impressed with how much the system had evolved.

- started with the 1E books which me and a friend stole from the public library in 7th grade
- high school, started messing with Battletech/mechwarrior
- we "upgraded" to 2E at some point, started messing with the published campaigns like Al-Qadim (hmm, wonder if a company would try to sell somethiing with such a name today? hehehe)
- broke off from D&D for a bit and did Ars Magica for a summer
- dabbled with some GURPS towards the end of high school
- ended RPing on a custom-made world/campaign using a whole bunch of 2E rules variants I came up with
- before i started university, i swore off role-playing forever so I could start to be one of the "cool kids"

Sadly, that did not quite work out as planned. Because at the university I ended up going to, EVERYONE is a geek!

Thread isn't more than six months old so I won't blow it to smithereens with semi-phenominal cosmic mod power.
