Also, is it possible to complete the alchemist's demo quest since we now have access to the "full" world?
Yep.
The only quests that can't seem to be solved in the demo are Blessing from Priests, Eye of Innos and Find Dexter.
The Eye is probably in a chest somewhere. (In the warehouse?)
And Dexter might be around, but I never found any mine or "large farm". |

The Old World looks the same... yet different, because several things happened there since your leave.
Cool, thx jaz, i appreciate the answers your giving, especially because it means u have to spend time away from gothic 2
I think i sort of rushed gothic 1, but i wish i hadn't because it seemed to end too soon (took 25hrs though)
Oh, just a little personal question, what is your first language, because u speak (type) perfect english for someone who also speaks german _________________ A good man may be stupid and still be good, but a bad man must have brains. |

Right now I have... wait... 6 teleport runes. You don't get them too early, so you'll have to explore by foot first.
Getting teleport runes earlier in the game would just spoil that indescribable feeling of exploration; feeling that Columbus had when he first ran onto american ground
It is understandable that you loose the spirit later on, when the runes come to focus.

I have two questions:
1. If you kill an enemy, can you take his armour??????
2. Do the most swords do more damage then the strength you need? (I mean that if you need 40 str that it does 50 dm) _________________ Gothic Credits

1. No
2. Be it noted that not all swords require STR to use... my hunter likes using a light rapier to make faster but less powerful blows to his enemy. _________________ Make good choices. |

AnimalMother: Thanks for the language compliment. I'm German.
Srchbayne: Hmm... since I'm a Paladin, haven't played another game with another camp yet (and have been on a business trip for a few days so I couldn't play anyway) I can only tell you that Militia/Paladins and Mercenaries don't get along too well unless you happen to know some people. M/P and Mages, on the other hand, get along quite well since the Paladins are the Innos order's fighters and the mages their priests. I'm afraid the Brotherhood question is one for the spoiler section... _________________ Jaz |

I have some questions:
1. How is the World are there still camps and are they all diferent or are there cities?
2. Is it the same World as Gothic 1 but then bigger?
BTW

1. The 'camps' of old have been replaced with the town (-> Paladins), farm ( -> Mercenaries) and monastery (-> Mages).
2. The 'Old World' is contained in the world of Gothic II. So it's basically the same world as in Gothic I, but bigger, just as you said. _________________ Jaz |

No I´m about halfway through the game and so far, I have only seen one big city and yes parts of the camps still are there but different, lots things happened since the barrier fell. Also the old map of the mine valley is geographically the same but completely different in everything else.
But the change makes really sense in the story of the game.
The fractions as they used to be aren´t there anymore. It is more a classical guild/league system other games have. And 2 of the four guilds (I´m not sure if you can join the fourth) are located in the main city of the game in the first map- the one you can visit in the demo another one you can find in a monastery in the mountains and the last one you can find at a farmers house. I will give out thise info since the documentation also talks about it clearly.
It basically still is a very similar character development style, but a different setting and situation hence the social rivalries and bindings between the fractions of the game are completely different.
As for the differences. I can only combine my experiences here with the comments of others. First of all my experience is that the entire first chapter plays completely different depending on the way you will choose.
Others said that, and I have the feeling also, once you´ve chosen your path
the main story basically is the same but the sidemissions often vary, and again chapter five according to others plays comepletely different depending on your character choice (even the videos are supposed to be different in chap five) |
