Dosbox 0.60

DOSBOX 0.60 is available (with protected mode support and many other improvements):
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=1

I send mail to RPGDOT staff, but they probably did not get to it yet.

Does anyone know if it support DOS Protected Mode Runtime yet? I was hoping to be able to play Duke Nukem 3D & Shadow Warrior once again.

Yes! That is one of the features of ver. 0.60 and what makes it very interesting to learn how to use it.

I just downloaded it and it has a readme with it. Its definately not the easiest thing to use (Its all command line). But its all in the readme.

Try and get it working first and then come back when you have a more specific question. Then we will see if we can help.

Thanks. I got to the point where it starts to load the game, and then I got this message: "CD rom not installed. Sorry" and nothing else happens.
Any help, somebody?
TIA

Could you post your system specs and what game you are trying to get working?

That was me, for some reason it didnt ask me to log in when I replied like usual. weird.

Anyway, could you also post what exactly you did with DosBox. e.g. what command line arguments you used.

Thanks.
I'm trying to run Shadows Over Riva
I went a little further I:
mount g g:\ -t cdrom
It mounts the cdrom allright
then:
mount c c:\oldgames
c:
cd riva
riva.exe
It starts with the opening screen but in really slow motion.
I then ctrl+f12 and ctrl+f8 to increase memory usage and frames.
Then the game freezes.
My specs:
P4 1.8, 1 gig ram, ATI Radeon 9700 pro, WIN XP Pro.
TIA

OK I got it to run. I reinstalled the game and now it runs but 3 issues are still pending:
1-it runs in a small window
2- it runs very slow even if I increase the frameskip and memore usage
3- I get no spoken dialog sound, only music.
Still, it felt great to play this oldie again!!!

Cool! I havent had a chance to try it out yet, sorry (We are preparing to move house).

I know the author said that a 2Ghz machine would be equivalent to a 25Mhz machine when using DosBox.

What requirements does that game have?

Strange, why did it show up NOW??? It's been released for a long time. Also there're some more imitators that are more popular.

Minimum Requirements of SoR:
486/33 or faster
MS-Dos 5.0 or higher
8MB ram
2x cdrom
60MB HD space
mouse
Sound Blaster Pro/16/AWE32
However (and this is a BIIIG HOWEVER) I right click the riva.exe file, opened properties, in the program tab I chose 'maximized', and in the compatibility tab I chose 'run in 256 colors' and 'run in 640 x 780 screen resolution' and the game now RUNS PERFECTLY WITHOUT USING DOSBOX. I just doubleclick the riva.exe file and it loads and runs perfect!!!
WHOA!!!!

Yes, but new version 0.60 now runs Protected Mode games, which previous versions didn't and thus had a limited number of games to run.
