Which Faction should I join?

I didn't finish this game years ago, and started it again. I have all of a sudden found myself running a training course for the Umpani, and I'm not sure I actually wanted to join with them...this is, of course, the danger of wandering around without a clue.

My quest journal said I should make an alliance with the Mook. Is this quest done if I join the Umpani? Also, last time I played I found another camp, which was a bunch of little twittery guys, I seem to remember, and I allied with them.

Can you join both? I don't want to miss out on any part of the game by blundering around.

first off welcome to the kick ass boards of wiz...

im kinda new here so i dont know much n i cant currently play the game on account of i cant get it to run on my system.......i actually have a post up about it....its the one after this

but for your question, i have heard many things about joining up with the umpani and trang.....er what ever it is that you do. i myself have never got out of arnika, on account of game crashes n stuff

but from what i recall n whats been posted on these boards, i thought you could join both? i may be wrong but i know there are lotsa funny things you can choose whether joining either one......i suggest savin it at the point where you choose n try many different things......or you could jus use a spoiler...lol

As long as you "cover your bases" with a certain talkative innkeeper, you'll be able to join both the Trang and the Umpani. The Mook Alliance is a seperate issue altogether. They'll talk to you in good time regardless of whether you go Umpani, Trang, or both.

There's more to tell, but I think this is enough of a spoiler to answer your question.

Thanks.

It's funny - the first time I played this game (only part way through) I really didn't enjoy it. Having now spent about six more years playing RPG's, I can now see how much fun this game is, if you actually know what you're doing. Battles that seemed impossible are really quite easy. My Monk is now hitting four times a round, Val is pounding the enemy with hits of 45, and my mage is blasting away with major fire and Divine spells. And I've really only jus tstarted the game. Lots of fun - and so different from most RPG's I've played recently. This reminds me of a Might and Magic game (games which I loved), but with far better graphics.
