Corrupt Savegame: Salvagable? Replaceable?

So I just read the scroll to summon Quadorhon, the warrior spirit at the end of the NOTR expansion. He appears, doesn't start conversation so I figure it's safe to save. I do so, and then suddenly I'm stuck facing him like we're about to talk, but the game's not responding and nothing's coming up.

I Control-Alt-Delete out, reload Gothic 2, go to Load. My savegame's thumbnail is that frozen screen, whoopee. I try loading it anyway -- the bar fills and it crashes abruptly to desktop. The save's shot.

Is there any way to fix this thing, (send to Piranha-Bytes, perhaps?), or am I screwed? My only other save (16 hours in the past, no, I'm not going back to it) works fine, so the game's not broken, it's just this save.

Failing that, is anyone around a similar place in the game's story as I was (Chapter 2, about to face Raven -- hell, I'd take a save that just got into the Bandit camp even)? I'd really appreciate a copy of your savegame if so. Equipment / Level / Stats don't matter, I'm sure I can hack all that back to what I was. It's just the plot progress I don't want to lose at this point.

Thanks in advance...

Hi coercionix,

and welcome to the forum. It's good to see new adepts to this sometimes slow board.

Well, about your problem. I can send you a save game shortly before you are fighting Raven. But i don't know if it will be working with your version because i have no international version.

Thanks, I'm sorry that my first post has to be a problem but unfortunately that's my luck when it comes to computer games.

I'm using the Gothic 2 Gold edition, distributed by Aspyr. Even if I'm unable to load your save, I may be able to 'patch' my savegame with parts of yours, so I would really appreciate it if you could zip it up and send it to me. I'll send you a PM with my email. Thanks a bunch!

Welcome to the forums,

Corrupt savegames is about the only thing that we don't know how to fix, there's nothing else besides getting yourself another (previous) savegame.
