Although Gothic was somewhat entertaining to me, I didn't find it to be an exceptionally engrossing action/adventure. It's very linear and there really isn't much character developement in the game. Just didn't have much to pull me in and keep me enthralled.

So Shadeling, your saying that a liveing WORLD isnt enough to pull you in? are you saying that you need to be 'enthralled' to a ton of stat tables instead of getting to explore the game? dont get me wrong i like stats in an rpg but there were plenty in gothic.

Gothic controls

I just finshed Gothic 2 and figure I need more, so I'm considering playing Gothic 1. I have the demo and can't set my 'use' button to my mouse. Is there some trick to this? I want the controls to resemble Gothic 2 as much as possible, in fact, I won't buy the game if I can't single-click to attack, pick-up stuff, etc.

Sorry, Seaman 1 click will not get the job done in G1, but a click and a simple push foward will sufice. Do not let a difficult control scheme stand in your way of an amazing game. It is as good or better than the second one in my opinion.

controls

I hope ur right about it being as good or better. I did finally get the mouse to work. I don't know if it was working all along and I was just so used to the G2 settings that I thought the mouse buttons were not working. It would be nice if under 'Keyboard Settings' it would register the mouse buttons as action keys.
