RPGDot Feature: E3 2005 - The RPG Landscape |
|

Every year E3 brings an overload of announcements, news, information, hype and promises. After several disappointing years for PC RPG fans, the signs are looking good for this year. We take a look at the major titles on display and throw a little rampant speculation into the mix - what surprises might be just around the corner?

Normally I'm not interested in First Person RPGs like Morrowind or Bloodlines...but Hellgate: London looks awesome! If it's not twitch heavy like other FPS games, it'll be on my buy-list. Hopefully it'll have killer multiplay ala Diablo.
And...Diablo III! I'm already drooling even though this is just a rumor.
Oh yeah, where's The Witcher and STALKER? Don't forget those! _________________ The world is small, nasty and complicated, and everybody dies alone... - Sam Fisher |

Very nice job, It helps what to keep an eye out for during E3!
But what about Vision? Although practically nothing is known about it, i would still like to see it on the list =)

Slak, I don't see Altar on the exhibitor list. Do you know if they will be there? I'll try to drop by if so. |

See it this way: Maybe the developer & publisher should consider their marketing strategy if their game isnīt on this list. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

(p.s. I'm not mocking slak, just keeping the same format for consistency sake. I think its a big oversite since I think Dhruin likes the Geneforge series. The 3 games I'm keeping my eye on are Genforge 3, Hammer & sickle, and The Night Watch. DL has already been released so no need to keep an eye of anticipation on it. I fart in the other games directions.)
(p.p.s. e3 is a sexist opressive institute only meant to keep my sisters down. Whats the last game (besides toee) to have a gay pirate? I guess gay pirates don't count for anything? I guess gay pirates don't pay taxes or are deserving of respect? Whens the last time you saw a dev hire a BBW to promote his game? The only role women have in the gaming community is forum administrators and studies have proven that they are paid 7 cents to every males dollar. That is outragous. If you ask me how I learned this information I'd have to plead the fif. one two three fo fif. In protest of e3 I will not shave my rear until gay pirates take a prominant role in game development. I actually have never shaved my rear but I was going to in anticipation of speedo season, but now I'm not. Take that gaming community. You sexist bastards.)
(p.p.p.s I have no will power. I just shaved my rear. The dingleberries were driving me whacky. I appologize to all the gay pirates, BBWs, and regular women who I let down. I will hand my head in shame when I wear my speedo to the local park where all the children frolick and so enjoy seeing my small bulge and body that could be chiseled from jello.) _________________ Vegitarian is the Indian word for lousey hunter. |

Thanks for all the comments - here's hoping E3 is as good as it looks on paper.
To the specific games...
The Witcher is mentioned towards the end - we've seen plenty of screens, movies and interviews so I didn't highlight it. I'm very much looking forward to it, though! We don't cover STALKER (rightly or wrongly).
I thought about Vision but Altar isn't on the list (not surprisingly - too small) and Cenega (who publish their UFO stuff) didn't list it either. Since I didn't have any info that it would be at E3, I left it out.
I love the Geneforge series but there's no way on earth Jeff could justify a stand at E3, so I doubt he'll be there. _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |
