Blue's News is reporting that News Corp (a Fox Interactive division) has acquired the IGN/GameSpy network for a total of US$650 million. Not too bad if you consider that some people were willing to bet about the same amount on IGN, GameSpy or both going out of biz over the "dot com massacre" . |

Hmm honestly I can't decide if this is a good or bad move. I'm not overly fond of Fox News in any way shape or form. The Fox station does have some decent programming. 24 anyone? I have a sinking feeling this might be the demise of IGN/Gamespy. Just my opinion. |

Actually, Fox is a division of News Corp which is owned by the Murdochs!! They're Aussies BTW!! Murdoch has a habit of pouring money into ventures sometimes, so it migh be a good thing!! Time will tell!! _________________ If God said it, then that settles it!

Is IGN really that profitable a venture? I always thought these internet media networks were perpetually on the verge of bankruptcy. I guess I just don't see the benefit to NewsCorp. Unless they plan on using it as an additional advertising outlet. Rupert seems to be pretty sharp, though. If he thinks they can do something with IGN, they probably can. Cutting out some of the redunancy would be my first move... |

RPG news? Where? And I don't want any of this level-treadmill action rubbish. Time for me to dust off my Planescape:Torment CDs... That "The Escapist" article rekindled my love for the game. |
