The only thing I didnt like about gothic so far is the combat system. Not enough combo type manouvres. Anyone who has played Severance Blade of Darkness will know what I am talking about.

Lets hope they do this in Gothic 2

I hope not - Gothic is an RPG - NOT a shooter or twitch game.

I don't want combos. I want to be at my fighting best in this type of RPG with the fewest keystrokes/mouseclicks possible. I want to beat my enemies, get experience, and develop my character without having to act fast. I don't want to play Jedi Knight II. I want to play Gothic II.

Yet Rebel Act went under, and Blade 2 was canned, along with the X-Box version of Severance.

Too much attention to combat, and not enough attention to story for Severance IMO.

I really hated two things in Blade:

a) no strafes (and there was big talk on this subject in Blade's forums)

b) no strafes in combat - i could only switch to one enemy and do circles around him. I couldn't even run away without switching him off. It was disaster if there were more enemies at one time. I also didn't like it Gothic (one enemy at a time only), but in Gothic there's no key like "focus on / off on enemy" and I can strafe.

Indeed, there could be more keys for combos etc., but I can live without it.

I like Blade of Darkness, but many of the combos were really hard to pull off. I really wish there had been a Blade of Darkness 2 for pc(with more emphasis on rpg).

The combos were easy with the Amazon Zoe. Barb ones were a little trickier - anyway Gothic is still higher on my list of most enjoyed games - TOP infact but there is room to improve is all I was tryng to say. Im sure Gothic 2 will do this. (And I hope they fix the damned bug with the winches)

I never encountered any bug with the winches, but I sure hope they do better with the wenches in Gothic 2.

That's how I started reading this site ... trying to find a way past the first jammed winch.

Gamestopping bugs suck. Period. No matter how good the game is.

I've never had a problem with the winches. I guess I'm just lucky. I like the combat system in Blade of Darkness a little bit better then Gothic's system. Gothic's system is a little on the primative side it seems. But it's definately not bad, it just needs some tweaks and polishing. I really hope PB took these things into consideration with Gothic 2. That and the manual, the interface is fine, but it did need explaining.
