Time passes (question from a newbie)

Hello everybody,

I just started playing Arx and I find it absolutely wonderful - I never forgot Ultima Underworld, you know...

In the City of Arx (level 1) I found out that some stores are closed that used to be open. I came to think that time normally passes in this game - but is there a way I can check what time it is and - is there a way I can rest/sleep/wait? I picked up some gems and want to sell them, but the jewelry is closed

Thank you in advance for your help!

Welcome to the boards. As for time it is a little strange in this game. It seems to be more quest and game completion related than anything else. When you first find it closed, you have to finish the current part of the main quest before day returns. There is no sleep or rest so it seems to be however long you take, that is how long that first night is. After that it is not a factor for you. I think they did that to make this part of the game a challenge, as the shops would be really useful now and you can't access them. Have fun and again, welcome.

It also gives you the chance to get into those shops while the shopkeeper isn't there.

Thank you for your welcome!

Yes, it seems that you are right - for example the jewelry shop has been opened right after I had returned to the City of Arx from the "Troll Strike" quest. It was just about time - with my inventory full of gems

And yes, it is probably true that there should be also a chance for the thieves to do their jobs .

Anayway, thank you very much for your answers!
