Any suggestions from you fellow RPG lovers? |
|
Ok, I've been playing WOW for the past 6 months and I'm officially bored out of my skull with it and COMPLETELY fed up with the WOW community. The thing is, I love the WOW combat mechanics / game mechanics. Is there a CRPG that has similar control / combat mechanics as WOW? I've played Gothic 1 and 2 (great games). I've also played Morrowind (couldn't get into much).
How about Neverwinter Nights? I know it's a totally different type game, but are the combat mechanics similar to WOW in any way?
I'm open to any suggestions from any of you experienced players. I guess I should state what I don't like. I don't like 2D graphics. I don't like isometric views. I like 3rd person or 1st person views best. I also don't like ultra click-fests like Diablo.
Any suggestions appreciated. Peace. |

I would recomend dark age of camelot. its not the newest game out there and it do not have any great graphics but its still a great game.
and the community is both helpfull and friendly.
Otherwise would i also recommend you to try Newer winter nights (just got it myself and it truly is a great game.) |

Never Winter Nights would probably fit your requirements. Stick on the 2 add-ons and youve got one big time consuming game.
The grafix arent the best in the world, but I found the game absorbing and most of all FUN.
There is a big fansite/mod community full of clever people creating modules that you can download for free, but play through the official campagn first (recommended).
It is quite old now and NWN2 is in the pipeline, allegedly. I still play NWN from time to time and I rate it very highly.
Grab it and enjoy. It is bargain bin fodder at the moment.
I have just started WoW (lvl 11 Orc Shaman), so I am still in the honeymoon period and loving it.
Cant think of any other immediate 1st or 3rd person games that are similar, but Vampire the Masquerade was entertaining and different
As mentioned above, Dungeon Lords is pending, but that is mouse controlled combat etc. I have played the demo and in this rpg drought, it looks good. When they have sorted out the problems (No map facility ), then it could be ok.
Go for NWN......

I have to agree with the others, grab NWN and all the expansions and you will have a game you can play forever. It may be an old game, but the mods are still being made, modified, and best of all are free!
They do have some you can buy at the site, but I will only do that when I finish all the player mods. The mods you can get number in the thousands, and the rating system for them at the official site is usually dead on. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=

NWN I recommend also.
I've been playing it for 2 years..completed it plus the addons.
Downloaded 100's of the best mods..some of which are wonderful..go have a look at NWNvault, the choice is enormous!
I play online either through gamespy servers or join a game over at NWNconnections.
Best value game, partly because of the mods/addons/multiplayer I've bought for many, many a year. |
