BD Mage Help

I played quite far into Beyond Divinity as a mage but the complete freedom in skills has me puzzled. WHat skills are good as a mage, and which are not? How should I build the mage up? Any sugesstions on BD mages would be useful, thanks.

Intelligence is the main stat for your mage.

I haven't gotten very far into the game due to problems with crashes. The only skill I've really favored so far is pickpocketing. I've traied playing around with some of the other skills, but I haven't really found a favorite.

The 2 best spells I've found for a mage, are Hammer and Lightning Storm, both of which you can get early in Act 2. Save your skill points to run them up. I'd also suggest a little sword skill might help. Follow Val's advice about boosting INT above all else, though you'll need tohave a reasonable STR to carry around all your loot. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help. All the skills I could pick overwhelmed me. Intelligence I always increase as a mage but the spells I had no idea about. Thanks again!

Is survival worth investing as a mage? Will it help my mana regenerate quickly in the upper levels? Or should I just concentrate on intelligence?

Not really, you'll want to spend most of your points on Intelligence unless you want to get up close and personal.
