Any other games like this? |
|
Just recently I stumbled on to Gothic 2. Having never heard of Gothic 1 I was not sure what to expect. I am say that I am more than pleased with Gothic 2, now having beaten it. It was a great story with combat that mattered (and the controls were good to after i rebound almost all of them to suit my needs .
I was wondering, are there any other GREAT RPGs that are similar to Gothic 2's style of gameplay? I finished up all of the Morrowind expansions a few months ago, and now I think I am going to go buy Gothic 1 just so I know all of the back story.
But are their other games out there that kicked as much ass as Gothic 2 that perhaps were under advertised like Gothic seems to have been?
Thanks! |

I agree, I've treid games like Arx Fatalis and Morrowind but they are nothing compared to the Gothic-games. |

Welcome to the forums!
The only similar game is Ultima 9. Itīs older and not as good as the Gothics. The upcoming Dungeon Lords might be one to watch. The Fall takes some elements from the Gothics, especially the interesting NPCs.
This topic has been discussed many times before. If you donīt want to wate for an answer just use the search function. It will deliver quite a few hits. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Well finish first Gothic 2 with other camps or did u finish with all the camps allready ?
Secondly indeed buy Gothic 1 imo it was even better than G2 it has something that Gothic 2 dosent have but that % is tooooooo small they both the same best!
And i dont talk about Ladders that G1 had
BTW after u finish G2 3 times and G1 3 times then wait for Gothic 2 Addon ehe and then for the next year |

Ahem, he asked for games *similar* to Gothic, not for a list of quality RPGs. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Has anyone tried Mistmare?? It *seems* similar just from a cursory glance. I downloaded a demo for it, but have yet to play it. |

Regretfully, Mistmare is nothing like Gothic (or any other game for that sake). I give Mistmare credit for orginality and story, but the gameplay is crap. Stay clear! |

KotOR has some small similarities. But I would also say that they don't even come close to the Gothic experience. _________________ Moderator and Council Magician of the RPGDot Shadows

Is horrible!!!, Don't even name it in the same breath as the gothic games!!!, I played through it just so I could be sure it sucked as much as it did all the way through and it really did!!!!
Do not get this game. Here's some reasons:
1. Combat? no it's more like movies, press on someone watch them fight, oooo you have to click on a medpac sometimes too. It's fun for like 10 minutes.
2. The environment looks horrid yes really, some of the characters are really nice though, especially Twi'leks with pixel shaders, but they all look alike so you'll get tired of it.
3. The story... if you can call it that.
4. The mini-games, especially the unavoidable one, where you have to shoot fighters, it must be like the worst mini-game ever, I got so irritated at it, since you really have to go from planet to planet alot, and it comes almost everytime.
5. If you haven't got the idea of how bad this game is yet, well it's alot more unstable when Gothic 2, corrupted save-files, and it's sure to crash after you've played it for a couple of hours. |
