Does someone ever find a good crossbow ???
until now the best one I've found is steel [20-20]...
Does someone ever find a good bolts ???
until now the best one I've found are silver...
If someone answer "yes" to at least one question,
please tell me where it can be found (or how to obtain it)... |

There is a Dwemer crossbow in the game, tho I have yet to come across it. I have begun to delve in the Dwemer ruins, but as yet no luck. I have also seen some enchanted bolts in a store in Balmora, but it wasn't until I had managed to find some on an NPC so they may be some I sold.
I'm thinking of firing up the Ed to make a few customs especially for the crossbow. An Assasin with a longbow doesn't quite fit the image as the crossbow would. |

A Dwemer crossbow is located in Gaelem Deblurfl (I don't remember the exact name; it's a vampire stronghold. South of Uvirith's Grave to a river of lava, follow the river west, then Gael. D. is across another little pool of lava).
Dwemer Crossbow was 30 damage (min/max 30), which is pretty excellent, but weighed a fair amount for my marksman-poor character to lug around (not really very heavy, but...).

I'll check this directly after work...
and to "editor guy", yes I could build me supra armor, supra weapon, boost all my skills (and so on) BUT what's the fun in that ???
I do not consider, discussing about location of things as cheating... everything else yep... |

if anyone is interesred...
I've finally found THE Dwemer crossbow
-> in Dwemer ruins west of my Stronghold (House Telvanni)
and have also found orcish bolts....
-> in Sheogorad region SSW of Dagon Fell

It seems dwarven xbow is the best there is. But while looking at all this stuff, it seems xbows aren't really a good alternative untless you have a very specific need to do a fixed amount of damage per hit. Main reason for that is a clear lack of good bolts. There are some enchanted ones, but there are no glass, ebony or daedric bolts in the game.
Some of the better bows do like 2-50 damage + 15 points for nice arrows, while xbows do 30-30 + 3 points for the best bolts.
Also, while there is almost 20k arrows available in the game (16858 of iron arrows alone), the bolt count is:
Iron - 615
Steel - 460
Silver - 84
Orcish - 41
Bonemold - 41
Cruel spark - 21
Cruel viper - 21
Cruel flame - 8
All others 2 or less

Forgot to mention, there are 8 Dwarven xbows available for picking up in the game.

WoW nice count BUT:
- you can buy steel and silver bolts from many traders (and those always reappear after one day)
- 30 fixed dmg is far better than 1-50 (cause in avg it means only 25 dmg  )
And I confirm xbow rulez !!! |

You forget the arrows.
Best bolts do 3 damage. So, 30 for xbow + 3 for bolt = 33dmg.
Best arrows do 15 damage. So, 25 average for bow + 15 for arrow = 40dmg.

I have found a dwemer crossbow in some dwemer ruin...forget which one, but i've only been in three, so its either the one you're sent to for the puzzle box, the one Edwinna (Ald-Ruhn mage guild steward) sends you to for a dwemer tube, or the one north of Uvirith's Grave the telvanni stronghold builder sends you to for the Dwemer Schematics |
