TOEE - Spoiler question

Spoiler:
I have decided to destroy the skull, but where o where can that granite maul be? I've yet to clean out the earth node ... but if it turns up blank, what do I do? The only maul I've seen so far was a masterwork maul that I sold many weeks ago ... I went back to the smith to buy it back, but it is gone! Have I screwed up totally?

Hmm... how to sugar coat this?

Yes, you screwed up. That Masterwork Maul was the one you needed. However! All hope is not lost! Go to the blacksmith in Hommlet and if you ask about Masterwork items, he'll have a Masterwork Maul that you can buy.

Thanks Val. I had a feeling I'd blown it ... but how was I to know? The maul was buried in a cache of other masterwork items!!

Good to know that not all is lost ...yet.

I still have to clear out a few nodes.

All was not lost anyways. There was always the other 'good' option for dealing with the problem.

Yes, I found that one while hunting around for the maul. I was actually upset when the game ended. I mean, my thief was just doing a little bit of scouting, and what better to scout than

Spoiler:
a jewel encrusted throne that reads as "Not Empty"

how dare that trigger an ending I wasn't ready for! You know, its funny, but I knew *exactly* what was going on with the old lady. I reloaded and tried a couple of different approaches, just on a goof, some are pretty good.
