Ikarion went bancrupt while making the German RPG "Armalion".

Ascaron bought its remains (?) and made Sacred out of it. Some of the original "Armalion" developers are still involved.

Has anybody downloaded and played the demo? All the previewers are rating it highly.

I played the demo and thought it was a decent game. There isnt a lot of interactivity with the world and the dialogue is pretty much just 'Accept' or 'Decline' but there is something about riding a horse that makes you feel better than everybody else. Not to mention the graphics are nice.

thanks for the info. it's rather a dry well for RPGs at the moment so i tend to get excited easily...i'm hoping this game will live up to its previews--spending fifty dollars for ten hours of gameplay or for games too boring to finish is getting old.

i too was especially intrigued by the horseback thing

I'm just trying to figure out how I can get the UK version (gorier than the US version it seems) in Canada...

Anybody have a clue.

Oh and the demo is quite excellent. It's Diablo II as it should have been, in my opinion.

Cheers,

Prowler

For the record I bought the English version(import) from gogamer. I'm not a big gore fan but I want the choice. The demo was fun and the game looks good enough to buy. Even at $10 more for the import.

Sacred is a great game

I also got the game and have a Battlemage lvl14. Leveling up takes a bit time. All I did was exploring around but I managed to cover 7% of the whole map. It sure is BIG. Btw there are numerous bugs like the horse bugs. For instance you can rid a horse you normally can't ( due to riding skills ) but when you get off that horse and hop on a worse horse, then try to ride back your good old horse the guy says that his skill is too low. Plus there are some bugged quests that can't be completed. You can also bypass the enemies with the horse and meet with a cool but toug dragon right from the beginning...

The other characters are cool too... anyway this game is great in any case so get it ASAP ( and get the patch too ).

I'll continue with my character now...

lvl 8 notes

This is a good game, I know it isn't news. I like the quest help on the map. To some hunting for the quest giver my be fine but I look at the map and get the help I need. For me that point alone is a winner. The monster respawn on Silver difficulty is enough to keep me leveling up at a decent rate. I have a Paladin type and He was weak till I got some effective spells. The first 5 levels were difficult, now I can hold my own but tend to get burried with monsters forcing the runaway tactic or reload. Challenging and enjoyable, even with the horse Macarina bug. (riding a horse in a fight causes the horse to twist around in circles when hit, under certain conditions)
