unbreakable plots except for meteor sword??? (spoiler)

Just curious about one thing. I've noticed that you can pretty much do anything and still finish the game...even kill everyone. But if you made two mithril swords before you used the koltk powder can you still beat the game without a 'meteor sword' I already beat it, but I had heard of someone else with this problem. Can you re forge the weapon somehow?
--it seems like a game with this many solutions shouldn't punish such an easy mistake by becoming un-beatable.

I haven't tried it....

But maybe you can melt down a sword after it's been cast? Maybe in one of the dwarven machines, or maybe in a fire? Maybe the crusher machine you used to crush the beastie? Just a thought....

I thought it was a problem also, but all you do is put the Koltk powder on a mithril sword of your choice, then put one dragon egg on the same sword, then enchant it with a spell/scroll.
