I voted for Vi for a few reasons. Early on, I made her into a formidable spell caster, and in the beginning of the game her healing and bless ability were priceless. Since I have both a lord and a priest in my main party, along with a bard with a dulcimer of mending (heal all), she has less spell casting to do now. I use her on a flank with a polearm / longbow, and she does plenty of damage for me. Also, several times her cheat death skill has saved me from having to use a resurrection powder on her.

My main party is pretty basic: ranger, monk, lord, priest, bard, mage. This gives me all spell books, three dedicated fighters, and the thief skills. I haven't missed the gadgeteer at all.

Maybe because I have a real monk, I found that RFS-81 was bad in comparison.

For now, my other RPC is Tantris the samurai, who is not nearly as good (no spell casting early to build it up, and I no longer really need him for that). I know from cheats that I will eventually encounter a ninja RPC, who I will use to replace Tantris. But for now, Vi was the best for me by far.
