Very Slow Site Navigation?

I have been away for some months and am now back to RPGDot and am finding that getting to the site and then navigating (forum use, etc.) is VERY sluggish. I have only been back a few days and have tried to wait to see if it cleared of itself (these things do happen) but it has not. Is there some known issue? I have NO problems with any other sites I frequent so it is unlikely to be my machine (I am on a 3 meg DSL line).

Our poor server is getting overloaded at peak times. Solutions are on their way...bear with us for a while.

@Joey,

if you was away for several months, you probably do not know that whole RPGDot moved under Jolt. So it should probably result into quicker connection (I hope so).

Yes, we receive more and more traffic and thus the server is really loaded at peak times. The move to the new (VERY fast) server will happen within the next weeks - this will help a lot .

I've been away for ten days or so now, came home just a few hours ago, and before I went, the site was very slow, but now suddenly everything happens in just a second or two. Very nice, have you moved to the new server already or is this just a coincidence?

I'm experiencing the same slow downs the last couple of weeks.
Sometimes I'm even unable to connect at all...such a shame :/
Hopefully when the move to Jolt happens things will go faster again.
Anyway, keep up the good work guys, rpgdot.com is still the nr1 info site for me

That's not totally in our control, but it is being worked on. Much has been done, but it is a complicated process and Myrthos is a very busy person in RL as well. Everyone is aware of the problems, believe me.

I was looking through some of the HTML code and I noticed that you guys have a lot of very large commented out sections just wasting bandwidth.

If you remove them it should help at least a little.

Also everyone should get a pop-up & ad-blocker (Preferably FireFox), which could improve available bandwidth.

No, I don't agree. I use FireFox, but I don't use popup blocker.
This site really have/had problems with several ads. However ads are one of important source of money and too many ad-blocking users could ruin this.
