Massive Performance tweaking needed |
|
I have a problem with Gothic. After trying to fix it for many weeks, i figure someway (I disabled the direct3d accelerator, somehow it worked) to make the gamefinally run, except it goes so slow that i cant play it. Here are my specs:
Win 98
Pentium III 450 MHz
320 ram
DirectX8.1
Matrox G200 8Mb
I know it is recommended to have 16 Mb for the display card, but i used the same one with Warcraft III and it ran fine. I figure that gothic will play modeately well with these specs.
How can i make the game run smoother without having to make any purchases, i dont have money. Any advice for the Gothic.ini?
Thank you |

Sorry to say this, but IMHO itīs hopeless. You wonīt get playable frame rates on this system. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

You can pick up a Geforce 4 4200 for around $150 now. It would make a huge difference. |

Here are some things to try:
-defrag
-large fixed swapfile
-reboot before you play the game
-close all tasks running in the background
-type 'toggle frame' in the console to check the frame rate.
Resolution and colour depth donīt have that much influence on the speed, so you should try to keep them up. I still doubt Gothic will be playable. Two-digit frame rates would come as a surprise. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |
