Fable: Molyneux talks about PC version |
|
In an interview with the German console gamemag GamePro, PEter Molyneux said, that they are thinking about a conversion of Fable, but it will not be another console, you know what I am talking about. I can't tell you more right now. While rumors about a PC version of Fable have been going around for quite some time now, this statement seems to semi-announce it, even though nothing is announced yet! |

i wonder why he can't announce it on PC... usually console wars don't care about PC gaming, unless MS (who pay a lot for fable) see the PC as a threat for his box. anyway, it's good to see i' won't need to buy a xbox for fable. |

Great news! The "you know what I'm talking about" thing is something you recognize from Fallout 3. At least it's nice of mr Molineux to hint at it in advance. I was seriously considering getting an X-box (despite my reluctance towards consoles) just for this game (I guess MS had reason to worry). If it will be released for PC I just have to upgrade my machine. |

Good news? Pfff... i bet they're gonna release it on pc 2-3 years after the x-box in order to make some additional bucks.(like they did with Halo)
No, thanks! |

I think Peter is a PC bloke at heart anyway and feels a degree of loyalty to the userbase. I think he knows that PC players will really engage with it and probably feels it should be something shared |

They'd be nuts not to port this game o the PC. Hell, it should have PC in the first place. I'll never buy a console, so any game developer who wants my biz better be making PC games. _________________ Midget Soothsayer robs bank. Small medium at large. Film at 11. |

Console gaming is superior to PC gaming. But, if you all are willing to wait 1+ years to get a Fable port, then more power to you. _________________ tired of people's shit |

console superior to PC!?
most people buy consoles because they can't afford a PC, so the console will have to do. Plus, most console games are dum arcade games to pickup for 5 minutes then put down again. PC games are more intelligent, involving and experimental.
trust me. i've owned many consoles, but PC is superior |

If you are going to make such bold statements you could at least back it up with some evidence. _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |

1. Please don't feed Trolls. (I don't care if he has 500 posts, that was a trolling statement)
2. I bet the fact that XBox 2 won't likely be backwards compatible is why he'll make it for the PC. He knows that if future gamers can play his older games, they will remember him for a long time. The only reason he could get the bucks for Black & White is his name recognition from Populous and Dungeon Keeper, still played many years later. If Fable is 3/4 as good as we've heard, he will want people playing it for a long time. When XBox 2 comes out, I bet he fears people will move on and won't go back. Smart marketing move if he does it. _________________ Ha, Ha, Ha.... Oh, you were SERIOUS?

I am not "feeding trolls". He is entitled to his oppinion as much as anyone here. I would just appreciate some insights into his reasoning is all. |

As for what Molyneux said about Fable, you can guarantee he has to be vague because of Microsoft. Like someone pointed out he's a PC man at heart so I doubt it'll take anywhere near as long as Halo did to come to the PC. But even if it does take as long, it won't be AS worthless as Halo PC was. I still play Ultima 7...so I won't mind the dated console port feel that Fable will have. IF it's a decent RPG...
And, you're right, that was a blatant Troll. So normally I wouldn't even comment...but.
Consoles gaming is superior to PC gaming in a few ways. As far as actual GAMERS are concerned they are superior in the same way that TV dinners are superior to 7 course gourmet meals. Any lazy idiot can sit down and have a TV dinner...in front of their TV even. But it takes a little thought & effort (on the part of the maker and the eater) to create & enjoy a 7 course meal. Sure we all like a TV dinner every now and then...but it's still CRAP compared to a REAL MEAL. But to paraphrase a Sufi saying "If you have only ever eaten mashed potatoes with lumps, then when you finally have smooth, non-lumpy, mashed potatoes you may not like them. You may even think it's the smooth, well made, mashed potatoes that are made badly." That doesn't quite fit exactly, since I like lumpy mashed potatoes (and hate console games) but if you have any f*cking brain-power at all you'll understand what I mean.
Console gaming is also superior in the business sense...sometimes, superficially. I mean a developer only has to get the game to work perfectly on ONE hardware configuration...and an ANCIENT hardware configuration at that. So it's easy to do. So in theory this is cheaper to develop (less testing time) and will make more money...but not if it's still SH!T and nobody buys it. So basically it's superior in the business sense because most publishers are lazy & greedy.
Some games (sports) are better suited for consoles. Some (RPGs & shooters) are better on PCs. Period.
Yes, console games can be fun. And they're simpler to learn usually. But saying they're superior is either completely moronic or a troll. Or both.
/end of rant at Troll. |
