No, but you need to close it for Marvin mode to take effect. So you need to type 'smarvins' or 'bmarvinb' for it to work.

Getting back to mud - -

It has been proven that Mud is the Supreme champion of the gothic game.

Mud can go from the start of the game to the end and kill every opponent or
monster without pc-hero (who would be the player, "me" in focus) ever using
his sword or bow. This guy Mud is the ultimate and outright gothic winner.
