Failing quests for fun in the old camp

I've been playing Gothic for the last few days and it's the best RPG I've played yet, even better than Morrowind and Neverwinter Nights by far. You can't get this interaction anywhere else.

Anyway, I know this might sound a bit weird, but I've been trying to puposely fail quests given to me in the old camp just for fun to see people's reactions and I'm discovering that sometimes it's harder to fail than to win it.

*small spoiler below*

Whistler's quest is easy to fail, however how to do you blow the others?
I've told Sly that I didn't find anything when I searched Nek but it won't fail the quest and neither will "not" giving the recipe to Dexter.

Again, I know this sounds odd, but I was trying to see if I could fail every chance to gain someone's approval and if it was possible. Thanks!

I tried that too!
And you're right sometimes it's harder to fail than win!

*glances down at Sly's corpse at his feet*

I think I have found a way of failing him.

*grins wickedly and moves away looking for his next victim*

Did you know that Diego will assess how successful you have been in PLEASING certain npc's?

Hey, man, there are two other camps. What's the matter with killing a few Shadows?

So what is the final thing that decides when Diego will consider you and see how many shadows you've pleased?

Do you have to perform "all" of the quests in order to get dialog from him to join the Shadows? I don't see anything about it at all when talking to him.

Hey there Anakin.

You can progressively keep asking Diego, (do another task then ask him again & he will give you a rundown of how your doing, with suggestions)

When he is satisfied he says something like "I really am impressed, go talk to Thorous, tell him Diego sent you"

P.S (about 5 tasks?)

So if he keeps saying "there are still many things to do..." you just need more to do? After doing all of the quests again, I messed up Thorous's quest by telling Mordrag that Thorous sent me however I did the other ones right but even after doing all of them, he still keeps saying the same thing.

I was under the impression that after I did all of them, I would be "judged" or something... ... especially after Thorous says: "If you fail, you will be Diego's responsibility" like evaluated and then it decides if I can join. I didn't realize that by failing it you just simply never get the chance to join and it never comes up.

O.K there Anakin,

You may not know it but your doing quite well! (dont forget to look in your journal/notes)! & yes you are being judged! - you did nothing wrong in telling Mordrag, did you follow him to the new camp?- did he give you a ring? - Did you talk to Lares? - have you done the "test of faith"? did you talk to fingers? - did you find Nek? - did you talk to Sly? - did you do what Dexter asked? - "come back soon, there are many things you need to learn"

A word of advice, Anakin: When you get Thorus's quest about Mordrag, don't beat him up (or try to anyway), have him take you to the New Camp. He will give you a ring that will get you in to see Lares, and you can go see Lares, or you can sell it, or you can keep it (Dexterity +5 when you wear it). When you've done what you need to do in the New Camp, go back to the Old Camp and tell Thorus, and WALA! You have completed the quest without fighting anybody!

Killing guards...

I killed everybody in the castle of the Old Camp not too long ago (except Stone).
I also killed the rest of the guards in the Old Camp.
It's just good to see them get what they deserve, be burned by Innos' Rage and Breath of Death!

I can't find the Breath of Death rune anywhere (Xardas didn't have it even)! I have Wave of Death (which is awesome but takes so long to charge up!), Rain of Fire, Wave of Ice, Ball Lightning, Storm Fist, and who could forget Storm of Fire?!
