VDFS32e.exe Problem - Read FAQ, still problems |
|
Greetings, mortals
NOTICE> Now, before I tell you about my problem, I first wanna point out that I've read the FAQ, followed the instructions and still have a little problem, so dont immeadiatly close down my post, please.
You people probally know the drill. Every time I start the game it starts making this 'virtual disc file system' or something, basicly meaning that I have to wait 4 boring minutes before I can be bored by Gothic 2 itself loading. I know it cant be normal if it happens all the time.
So I battled my way to the FAQ, read it, downloaded the updated vdfs32e.exe and replaced the old one. I loaded it once, I let it have some quallity time, exited Gothic 2, restarted and it still came up with this VDFS loading screen. Not funny.
So I tried placing the vdfs322.exe in another map. Didnt Work. I tried deleting it. Didnt work. All I end up with when trying to load the game is Gothic 2 not responding.
I've combed out several fora and checked the gothic.ini file, but it turned out fruitless.
Please tell me what to do, if you know. It's not like a real killer bug, but it is annoying having to make so much tea while VDFS is loading (someone in the forum said that you should make a cup of tea while loading).
I have an AMD Athlon 800, Geforce 4ME, 384 MBRAM (wich cant be the problem) running WinME (wich might be the problem).
Again, please help me. _________________ Ugh |

You should also post this on the JoWooD boards, this doubles your chances.
I think somewhere in the gothic.ini is a parameter which determines whether or not the game ended correctly. Usually this should be set to 'error' when the game starts and to 'correct' when the game shuts down without fault. Find it and set it to 'correct' (or similar). Then the file initialisation should be skipped. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

I have the same problem. No matter what I do I get that Virtual Disk File System thing when I start. I tried the FAQ suggestions. |
