I have been a merc, what now?

I have played trought the game as a merc. Witch path do you think I should take now?
Is the palladin-path similar to the merc? I am thinking about joining the monastery...

Yes, join the monastery first, ‘cause the paladin-path is more similar to the merc-path – but then, of course, you should also play as a paladin!!!

Wich path is the easiest? I played as a palladin and had no problems at all. And I didnt put a single point in ranged weaps like bow or xbow.
Now its the monastery path for me. I think.
But tell me. What kind of weapons should i focus on, besides magic? Im thinking bow/xbow is also ranged weaps just as magic, so maybe something for close combat?

@Bombadill:Play again as a mage.
@oNe:As a mage you should focus in magic and close combat weapons
(mostly one handed).Forget bows/xbows cause a lot of creatures are immune
to arrows and you already have ranged "weapons" to fight with.

I say: play as a mage.First time it feels damn hard, allmoust impossible, but IMO its the most rewarding path of all three.

So to make your journey a bit easier on begining.If you want ofcourse, i'll give you this advice: before joining monestary train as much melee and strenght skills as possible.Because after joining monestary those skills costs double prize(ie 5 strenght costs 10 points and melee combat cost even more!).Later on you can learn permanent potions to boost your strenght for instance, if you want to change your weapon to something more damaging.But why even bother to do so.Best weapons are your runes, trust them allways!and belive bad-ass weapons they are..Still sometimes its unpossible to avoid close combat, so knowing how defend yourself with sword is quite handy.Besides its fun to teach some manners with steel.Even if you are able to burn them alive or freeze to death or summon a skeleton..
