Anonymous comments on newsbits and games disabled |
|
Due to the massive amount of spam we are receiving at the moment in the news and games comments threads we decided to disable anonymous posting for them. Our forums always required registration, but to make things easier we allowed guests to comment on newsbits and games.<BR>It takes us hours to remove these massive amounts of posts at the moment. Until we have found a way to clean up the forums in a faster way, anonymous posting will remain disabled and you have to be registered when you want to react to a newsbit or comment. |

If I had a vote, you'd leave it this way permanently. Too much temptation for the kiddies to come in here and practice the new curse words they learned on the playground. _________________ 'nut |

I totally agree. Posting is a privilege, not a right. People who hide behinds 'guest' while they flame the staff of this site are totally reprehensible. I think all posters in any thread should be registered. _________________ If God said it, then that settles it!

Eew.. looks like we'll have to enforce webcams as well. You think that could be done, Myrthos? |

You'd actually want to see Roqua naked, sweaty and hairy?
It's a pity that we have to resort to such measures to get rid of the spam, but this is better than having to delete hundreds of Texas Holdem spam posts. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

No one wants to fondle my clamy, fur covered man boobs, or at least gaze upon them as I make them jiggle? What kind of site is this? _________________ Vegitarian is the Indian word for lousey hunter. |

Sorry to interrrupt the manboob-fondling. I would prefer guest posting was enabled; we often get good comments from all sorts of people passing through, perhaps more often than registered members. Anyway, my point is - this was only raised because of spambots posting uncontrolled in comments threads and not as a reaction to anything else. _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |

It's fairly simple to stop the spammers, I can even code it if none else wants to. Make it so there's a picture with a code displayed if guests wants to post, and they have to enter that code in order to be allowed to post. |
