Pickpocket levels dex minimum |
|
Hello. I love thieving and I learned pickpocket, have 25 dex. For now I can only rob the ones designated as "child's play". How much dex is required for "simple" and "easy" (or is it easy first and then simple...)? |

Does the experience earned increase with the level of difficulty of the victim? _________________ CaptainWorshipperNonFlamer

Search for posts on this topic for more details. You can only pickpocket a NAMED NPC only once, and the EXP increases only as the chapters increase.
Chapter one, +25, chapter 2 +75, etc.
6 levels of Pickpocket Dexterity Score and message feedback list.
1. 10-20 Child's Play
2. 21-49 Easy to steal
3. 49-59 Risky
4. 59-69 Difficult
5. 70-99 Really difficult
6. 100-120 Almost impossible
Remember, the score for a NPC is a fixed constant, it is not a random percent chance for success. Either you beat the score or fail. The messages are for a rough idea range of what your dexterity needs to be to pickpoket a Named NPC no matter what is the NPC level. Some NPC people are just more aware than others.
Hold off pickpocketing characters until later chapters gives more experience, but some quest will expire and maybe you need it now at lower level. (Alternate to get Lehmer Ledger for good experience when low level thief, or climbing into Monestary and ripping off the key to treasury when not in the mage guild and climbing a tricky way back out).
Higher level characters (or tough scores) do NOT give more experience for pickpocketing (all the same experience within a given chapter).
I would like also to give experience for opening chest in game so helps to pay for thief skills back.
The level needed to pickpocket is in game.dat. You either beat the score or not -the messages are releative and are not a percent chance. Of course, these levels can be altered.
In fact, just look into that file to see the hex value of Dexterity needed to pickpocket a given NPC. Some are rumored to be over 100? Anyone have time to make a list for requirements? There was a list for relative DEX needed to score a mark within a range via the message feedback.
I can alter (or so can you easy) the score to pickpocket; and also the experience given....so it helps to 'pay' for investing in thief skill earlier on in game... I did this for learning many 'worthless' hunting skills so that the skill point investment is worth it by getting a decent experience back.
After nerfing 'toned down, not completely removed' the money and experience infinite pumps -makes hunting skills valuable to know.
Alot of this rebalance and modding, but when Raven add-on coming release (when?) seems to possess many things in common on these issues. Should make it G2 plus Raven even better. _________________ Wo ist mein Sumpfkraut?

Again I thank you and bid you to forgive my laziness for not using the search. _________________ CaptainWorshipperNonFlamer

That is all right. The data is kind of buried in the post listing. It took me some time to find the data also. I am putting it all here so that if one needs to find stuff about pickpocket scores and messages they can easily find it in one spot. I hope this is of use. Happy gaming! _________________ Wo ist mein Sumpfkraut? |
