Hey JAZ, what's the story with your avatar? Who is it?

Yeah, Outcast is waay waay cool! It's got a great storyline and I especially liked the way it developed and how all the answers came together in the end.

The scenery was spectacular despite being voxels (yuck yuck). There's no 3D acceleration, so you don't need GeForce or any of them 3D cards.

I didn't include it cos' it's way old now, by PC standards, and it ain't exactly RPG... more a 3D adventure.

Well... let's say I just wanted some new clothes . And I have been making one joke too many about my real calling being that of a Star Destroyer captain...

It's Jovan Vharing, the captain of Lord Tremayne's 'Interrogator' and the protagonist of Pat Jackson's story 'The Longest Fall' (which in itself appeared for the first time in one of the Star Wars RPG journals and was later published in 'Tales from the New Republic'). The pic as well as his RPG stats were only in the Journal version of the story, and the pic was black and white at that. I chose to color it one day...
To cut it short, Vharing was one of the classical Imperial minions who - without meaning to do something bad - botched a mission royally and was subsequently executed. Contrary to most other folks who happened to share the same fate he had a brief stint as a ghost afterwards ...

Microsoft is only the distributor. Dungeon Siege was developed by Gas Powered Games, the head behind it was Chris Taylor, the guy who designed Total Annihilation.
IMHO DS is nothing more than a boring, unrewarding, storyless and strictly linear hack&slash game. You´re on rails throughout the whole game.
The only positive things are the beautiful graphics and the excellent interface. A wasted chance. Nox was so much better.

As an alternative for Gothic my recommendation would ofcourse be Outcast by Appeal.

Voxel based, non accelerated but simply beautiful graphics combined with exellent gameplay and a large and totally convincing world of Adelpha.

Gothic & Outcast are undeniably the best and the greatest action/adventure games ever made. The fate of Outcast 2 is really a big blow to adventure gaming

Outcast 2 - The Lost Paradise was first temporarily suspended.

Now there's word that Appeal has closed it's doors due to financial problems (bankruptcy).

\there is tons of good news, such as every day the release date of Gothic 2 gets closer! , but there is also some very, very bad news... they are coming out with a EVERQUEST 2!!!!!!!! of all the mindless hack n slash games, Everquest is the worst! and they are making a sequel! that just makes me sad... it is games like that that suck the souls out of many a good gamer... as well as drain their wallet... it is the reason that games such as Gothic and others never get seen! because there are too many soul-less gamers... oh, and by the way, if you click on "more emoticons" how do you put them in here? I was going to do the little do shooting the gun, and the aim it at a large "everquest!"

Oh no! Poor guys. I really loved Outcast. But I guess their appeal (hah, pun) might have gone a longer way had it used 3D acceleration than voxel graphics.

@Black Fang, yes, I'm single. Oh, was that question directed at Val?
