I played a little of BG1 but never finished it, I don't own a copy of it anymore, I am seriously thinking about buying BG2, should I finish BG1 in or to play BG2...or is it the type of game that I can just play.

Do you still have the saved game files from BG1 on your hard drive?

Although BG2 is better than BG1; it's still more of the same only better. If you didn't finish the first, you won't finish the second

No, I'm talking about the story, not whether or not I liked it, I did like it, I just wasn't as committed then as I am now, I was just curious whether or not the story would make sense if I didn't finish the first.

I never played more than the first two chapters from BG1, up to the moment the hero and Imoen meet Jaheira and Khalid, which means I knew very little of the entire story, but when I played BG2, I had no trouble getting into it.

Also, IMHO BG2 is far better than BG1. I have finished it twice, all the way to the end of Throne of Bhaal, and I intend to play it again sometime soon if I can find the time. What I like best about BG2 is the character interaction, and the romance possibility. It makes role-playing more interesting I guess.

Story wise, BG@ is better than BG1. If you going to play BG2 might as well get the add-on also, it's about another 40 hours of game play.

After you get the TOB addon, download the addon for the addon

Its called ascension, and you can assume ascension means what you think you assume it is assumed to be thought to be assumed to be what you thought...

I agree that BG2 is far better than BG1. Couldn't be bothered with the first one but have played the second (and TOB) through a couple of times now.

What's this 'ascension' add-on? I've never heard of it...

I found it while surfing their forums. The guy who works for Black Isle said he didint agree with how they handles the conclusion of TOB so he uploaded a mod that basically gives the opportunity to convince old enemies into becoming allies(similar to how Sarevok became good-not a spoiler because hes the first to change his alignment)

So, does it significantly enhance the TOB experience (i.e. is it worth downloading)?

And do you know anything about the other BG2 mod, er, The Darkest Day or something like that?

Cheers.

I haven't got round to looking at either of the mods, so I couldn't really say.

Here's the link to Darkest Day if you want to have a look...
