Who else played this vintage hybrid by Gremlin? Not a CRPG in the classical sense, RotH was more of an action/adventure mix with a lot of suspense, a very good story and a great atmosphere... IMO.

Realms of the Haunting is one of my favorite games ever, it's more of an adventure/RPG hybrid. The atmosphere was great, and it had a good story as well. |

ROTH is one of my favorites ever, after 11 years of CRPG's. I think if Edgar Allen Poe made a computer game, ROTH would be it. I regret that no sequel has appeared. |

Like many great games, it went largely unnoticed by the public. Too bad, actually, as I would have loved to see a sequel as well.
...the demo got me hooked, I had to buy the game the next day all those years ago!

Yes it was a shame a sequel was never done for ROTH. When the game was put out, everyone was enthralled with Quake/Unreal and action games, so unfortunately nobody really wanted to play a game like Realms.
I wonder if that game would run under a Windows environment, I'd like to track down a used copy and play it again.
Anyway, Clive Barker's Undying is a game that reminded me of ROTH, it has great graphics, is VERY creepy, a neat story, unfortunately it's more of an action game, but it takes place in an old mansion in Ireland, I had fun with it. If you liked ROTH, wait until this one is in the bargain bin, and maybe check it out. Had to play this one on the Easy setting though, it's TOUGH. |

I played Undying* and liked it a lot, BUT (and that's a big but here) it was - like most newer games with great graphics) a bit too linear for me. I loved the game's story and atmosphere best.
_____
*I play everyting in term of shooters and action/adventures...

As a matter of fact, ROTH was the first FPS I played( and I almost finished it).
Since then I've been looking for a simular plot, and well developed characters in all the FPS games, but I was greatly dissapointed |

Did any of you play Phantasmagoria, that 6 or 7 cd game by Roberta Williams(Of King's quest fame)and published by Sierra? I heard it was really scary, but I never played it myself.

I didn't like Phantasmagoria. Not interactive enough for my taste. RotH had more of that!
