A familiar with greater stoneskin or something can do a little damage. But I use my familiar (the pixie) as a rogue. The panther, though, can tag team like nothing else with a summoned creature or a henchman. That cat does +6d6 sneak attack damage at my level. Nothing like seeing a familiar dish out more damage consistantly than the 12 level fighter my friend was playing.
