Mage Guild Conflicts

I have a mage character who is just entering Balmora. I was wondering if anyone knows if I will have any conflicts by joining the mage guild and then joining the Telvanni mage great house later on. I want to take advantage of the benefits of being a mage member, but I don't want to mess up my ability to own a stronghold later on in the game with the Great House guild!
I read on one of the tip and trick sites that the two don't get along and belonging to both isn't good.

You'll have to choose eventually, since mage guild quests will have you killing Telvanni and vice-versa. While you can do the quests, one side or the other will get very upset with you sooner or later.

I have just the same plans as PITTTBULLL. I've already joint Mages and hope to join Telvanni some time later. I hope there is not as much conflicts between them as of Fighters and Thieves (code book e.g.). And some Telvanni are saying like it is a custom to kill one of their own to advance, so I hope there will be at least no problem in clearing your status with the faction afterwards (even if you kill for M.G.). I hope you don't have to kill the persons who clear your name!

There are so many conflicts. Its nearly impossible to get to high ranks in more than one or two guilds or houses.

I hope House Hlaalu and the thief guild don't have any conflicts.

Right now i'm doing the Ald'Ruhn thief jobs, but i'm going to join house Hlaalu very soon.

I am not sure Xerox with this certain combination. But generaly it should be possible to reach high(est) ranks in one guild and one big house (but it is not entirely true) :].
