O.k - - - O.k,

Install the German 1.08h patch, but before you start install the Gothic player kit (j/k, h) ????.

Play the game through the Gothic starter, you will have all German dialogue's but you will hear English spoken words. It's hard but you will find the old man after you meet the "GREAT FAB 4"? in the later chapter. Maybe?

I tried it Wulf and nothing happened, same as it was before. I think we may be looking at the wrong things, even if there are lines in the books that seem useless that you guys seem to be analzying very closey. There has to be something else that provides a bigger clue than that, that is what I'll be searching for the rest of the week.

Guys I looked around and came up with this new idea, the only man man with power in Gothic is Xardas, this quest seems tied to Xardas to me I mean think about it: "Those who shall know me no where my power lie hidden". And the righteousness quote also is keyed to Xardas because you gives you that quest to kill the Sleeper. I'm doing a through background check on Xardas for a while.

Pay attention!

You will find the clues in the game dialogue which just so happens to be in German, when Diego,Milten,Lester & Gorn, (and pc-hero) all meet in the later chapters (this means you will have to play through the game) NO story helpers
if you don't mind!

Because this meeting has been "fixed" of errors, the mission will unfold better than previous, take your time, eager beavers will lose out!

Hey there Graham 2,

Could you please answer this, did you ever meet up with the fab-4 when you played Gothic, as you played did not you expect to meet them?, if it didn't happen, then it will happen when played through this patch.

No, i have given up on this quest, it's a matter of moral justification, (i see no point, let somebody else,- - - a true believer, solve the quest, i can't read German.

Re:- Preston,

I cycled (push-bike) down the Preston by-pass the day it was opened, the first motorway in the U.K, (no cycles allowed) and was promtly escorted by the local police force (& a free ride) back to the other end.

By meet up with the fab-4 I assume you mean Diego,Gorn,Lester and Milten in the same location then my answer would be no.

Would this by any chance take place in chapter 4 after doing the quest that Diego gives you to tell Gorn and Lester to "Meet at the usual place?"

Just curios but why do you ask?

Just curios again but the first motoway in the UK, just how old are you?

I don't mean to be rude or anything it's just that for some reason or another I thought you would be about the same age as me.

Yes i am getting older, i can now only manage 50 press-ups each morning.

Here is some useful info' from a patch previous to 1.08h but embedded into it
namely, - - 1.07c,

- Durch Magie kontrollierte NSCs (Control-Spell) sicherer gemacht.

- Sitzende NSCs bleiben sitzen, wenn sie angesprochen werden.

- Logbucheinträge erweitert und korrigiert!

- Baal Lukor entschärft!

- Mehr Monster in den späteren Kapiteln.

- Chapterscreens bei Kapitelwechsel!

- AI durch Magie beschworener Monster verbessert!

- Kann Saturas nun auch öfter als nur einmal über Xardas informieren, wenn ich nicht gleich darauf geantwortet habe.

- Die Schatten in der freien Mine im 4. Kapitel greifen den Spieler jetzt auch an!

- Gorns AI in der freien Mine im 4. Kapitel verbessert!

- Magiekampf berbessert!

- Seltsame Pergamentvermehrung von Baal Lukor gefixt!

- doppelte Ambientdialoge bei Buddlern im alten Lager entfernt!

- Milten gibt keine Infos mehr über die Feuermagier ab dem 4. Kapitel!

- Altes Lager ist im 4.Kapitel jetzt nicht mehr so friedlich. Nicht nur die Wachen vor dem Tor greifen an, sondern alle dem alten Lager zugehörigen Charaktere!

- Xardas´ Dämon kann jetzt auch mehrmals angesprochen werden. Auch wenn man das Golemrätsel noch nicht gelöst hat, kommt man nach dem Dialog des Dämons trotzdem weiter.

- Xardas fällt nicht mehr einfach aus seinem Turm, wenn er merkt, daß in seinem Turm gekämpft wird.

- Man kann nun Feuermagier werden, ohne die Minecrawler-Eier zu Cor Kalom gebracht zu haben!

- Man behält nun die Feuermagiergilde im 4. Kapitel, auch wenn sonst keiner mehr da ist, außer Milten!

- Überlange Dialogoptionen gekürzt! man kann nun jede Antwort, die man geben kann, vollständig lesen!

- Beim Kauf einer Rüstung, werden nun auch die Schutzeigenschaften der Rüstung angezeigt. Man sieht nun vorher, was man kriegt für sein Geld.

- Zahlreiche nicht mehr aktuelle Dialogoptionen entfernt. Beispiel: "Wie komme ich in die Burg!" weiß man im 2. Kapitel schon, weil man spätesten da schon mindestes einmal in der Burg bewesen ist!

- Saturas kann den Spieler nun auch in den 5. Kreis der Magie aufnehmen. (Konnte er vorher auch schon, nur behauptet er jetzt nicht mehr, daß er dir nur bis zum 4. Kreis verhelfen kann!)

- Orc Krieger plündern den Spieler nicht mehr, wenn er am Boden liegt!

- Crawlerexploit beim Tor zur MinecrawlerQueen in der alten Mine gefixt. Das Tor läßt sich jetzt nur noch einmal öffnen!

- Schläfer-Endkampf verbessert.

----------------------AB 1.08h:------------------------

- Probleme bei der Beförderung zum Templer durch Cor Angar gefixt.

- Diegos Auftrag Gorn und Lester über Ausschreitungen im Alten Lager zu informieren erweitert!

- Probleme mit Baal Lukor im Orkfiedhof beseitigt!

- Probleme beim Kampf in der Arena mit Kirgo und Kharim in späteren Kapiteln beseitigt!

- Auch als Wassermagier kann man bei Lee Zweihandkampf lernen.

- Lee kann nun über die Ereignisse mit Gorn in der freien Mine informiert werden.

- Baloros Waffe als Mission integriert.

- Logikprobleme bei der Mission "Wasserträger für Lefty" beseitigt.

- neue Nebelturm Mission: "Der Fremde"

It's all there.

The game strives to nudge the player gently towards the right path by dropping subtle hints along the way. Your first hint comes at the beginning of the game. Diego says that old camp is the best. Now if you want to join the old camp, you have absolutely no need to impress all the baals in the swamp camp or the mercs and rogues in the new camp. Also some of the tasks that people in old camp assign you, need not be done if you feel that their motives are quastionable. I think I have dropped enough hints for even a novice to finish the chromanin quest in a more graceful way. Just remember that "giving up" is the easiest thing to do. Happy "hunting"- is that a clue?

LOL, guys this is brilliant! Gothic has got to be the greatest game of all time! I mean what a great easter egg to find! The game designers must have spent so much time and effort on things like this..not knowing if anyone would ever find it (christ its gone unnoticed until now!) I have to take my hat off to wolverine_men i mean it would have been so easy just to have given into the rebukes of all those less patient than him (i mean if i had found this topic sooner i would have certainly shown my frustration). Starting tomorrow...oh crap..today its 4am im gonna start playing Gothic again and strive to find every easter egg ever! Atleast until the Hitman 3 patch comes out (it crashes after the first lvl!)
OH iv also gotta take my hat off to Wulf for doing all that detective work and explaining wolf's motives to the flamers..i mean he's gotta have spent days in a trance-like state of deep meditation to find the true meanings and all! Just my 2 cents

What will you do if you find "the old man"? will you tell everyone where and what you found, or will you keep it as a secret, why have thousands of others not found this quest? why can they not find him?

I NEVER met these 4 guys together as such. Always they were separated, even in CH3 when I was working with them all, and in CH4 when I had to give a message to Lester and Gorn - Lester always said that he has no time to go anywhere and Gorn said that he will go, but all what he did do is go to Kord and his group. So the "meeting with "fabulous 4" is tad unclear, as I never met them together as such. I even ran out and checked the whole 'world' out, nothing.

What I did do, though, if it matters, was to do all the quests for joining all of the camps, for extra XP as such. Maybe that affects it, who knows..

I also dont know the answer, maybe i'll play the game one more time to find out?- - after all Wolverine_men has reveal'd as much as he can without giving the game away.

One thing is for sure, i would keep an account of everything i did in the game to learn where the "triggers" are.

Please, remember the original post of this thread. wolverine_man says "I looked around in there for nearly four hours", this apparently does not mean the dead man found alive in another event sequence, it would not need 4 hours of search for a hidden tunnel. Also, I would not qualify the cave of the skeleton mage as a "large hall". If a large hall would exist, it should be not too difficult to find with the "K" command in Marvin mode. I tried it a bit, but I didn't find anything but solid rock or empty space over the sea.
