I've been tinkering with the Gothic 2 demo for a couple weeks now. I did that trick for getting outside the demo boundaries by activating the street lamp by the blacksmith's. I explored much of the territory out there, the farmers in need, the tavern, the bandit's hideout. After killing some monsters and going up a couple levels, I headed back to town in order to invest in some more strength. It was then that I discovered I was unable to get back into the demo boundaries! I tried using the street lamp again, but it seems that the lamp isn't in the right place to allow the glitch to provide a return trip. Does anyone know how I can get back back inside the demo boundaries, or at least increase my stats from the outside? |

The easiest way I found to get back to town is to edit your saved game and give yourself one of the teleport runes. ITRU_TELEPORTXARDAS is a pretty handy one.

Beleive it or not, you can actually go back to the normal demo grounds
using the same lampost.
This time, you have to stand such that you are directly facing the lampost
and then "use" it. You may have to try it a few times, but it has worked for me.
It is different from going out of the area because for that you have to sort of stand a little to the left of the lampost and use it.

Just go on a house's roof, climb on wall and jump on ground. You will be hurt, but you will come back in the real demo. |

I'll try the in-game methods you guys gave. Thanks. Supposing that I wanted to edit my save game, what would be the best way to do this? |

Guys, I've got only one question, to any of you.
I've been exploring the sites and I've picked up a lot of really cool weapons from either bandits or even orcs. Anyway, I can't use them because I've got no goddam skill or strength.
Except for herbs, is there any other way to increase your skill or strength.
Please, I'm desperate. |

After passing through the demolands I went swimming for a loooooong time ... found a couple lizards that kill me one bite and a bastard sword worth some heavy penny ... but I cant really understand the german so I dont know where to level up my character ... Also got killed by a few Orcs and a shadowbeast ...
They really went out of their way to make the outside territory i dont know why they made the demoland so small??!!? _________________ NIL MORTIFI, SINE LUCRE

The territory outside the demoland is there so you won't see the "edge of the world" from inside it. Presumably the devs made the demo by deleting stuff from the full version, not starting from scratch and building it, so I imagine that what got left behind was a time-saving measure
Training: if you do some quests in Khorinis and apprentice to the Blacksmith, he will train your strength. You can also upgrade it one point each 24 hours by making an offering (100 coins) at an Innos shrine.
Language: you can download HornOx's English subtitles. See the thread on the Gothic II forum.
This information and much more is in Maylander's complete guide to the demo elsewhere on this page. |
