Terrible Frame rate on a decent system

Hi

After playing through and loving gothic 2 I decided I had to play the first one. Anyway basically it runs like crap, my system:

Windows XP - fully patched up
fast 80 gig hard drive, dedicated for games
Pentium 4 2.8 gig
1 gig of DDR400
Radeon 9800 pro

Now I'm shocked that this game won't run, I tried that patch and no difference. Latest drivers on the GFX card also have tried older ones no joy.
Im totally confused, my system runs Doom 3 no problem, very strange indeed.

Cheers

Welcome to the forums!

Gothic should run with the patch on a Radeon 9800.

The frame rate is locked at 23 fps. It can be unlocked and a gazillion other things can be enhanced. You can find detailed instructions with the search function ('fps patch').
One example:

Itīs definitely worth the effort. Gothic will look much better and it will run as fast as G2.

Thanks for the reply

good to see people are still giving tech support on a game so old. Right I had to guess how to install it all as I cann't read German and all the instructions are in German lol. Anyway like most other similar patches just copied the directories across, but the launcher still wont work so I just patch the .exe with the FPS patch and then run the gothicmod.exe and it runs excellent now.
Thanks very much, it looked horrible before now I run on full settings and it runs completely smooth weird huh?
Thanks again.
