I read in a paper that two persons met each other when they where playing D2.
They got married. Is´nt that a happy endind in the world of D2? _________________ There once was a youngster, DzD

Well, I let Corel go idle because it's a RAM buster, but I actually had PS and the communication thingies do things. No performance problems with DS, and I have just an Athlon 1700, a Geforce 2 (!) and 512 MB RAM.
And AvP worked perfectly for me as soon as I upgraded RAM to 512 - with 256 it was very slow. _________________ Jaz |

DS is plenty prettier than D2, but it is so mind-numbingly dull it surpasseth any known competitor for sheer stupefying banality. If pretty graphics are enough for you, without even the minim of plot that D2 provides, DS is your game. But it is essentially empty and devoid of meaning.
I might get it if the Siege Engine is truly as moddable as GPG keeps saying, though. _________________ "It has been a grand journey- well-worth making once."

I saw this in a movie about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode. I think it was called, "The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down."

I liked Dungeon Siege--if that makes me banal so be it. The games I find dull are the ones that never seem to get moving--Arcanum, Wizardry 8 those types of games. Morrowind is beginning to fall into this category too, but I'm still giving it a chance. _________________ ''Perhaps I'm old and tired but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied. It was a Korean couple. I hear Blizzard gave them a couple of SOJS as a present. _________________ =Moderator of The RPGDot Shadows=

Here I go displaying my ignorance again, but what is a SOJS? |

Um, DS does not even compare to Diablo 2 |
|
Um, people, Dungeon Siege does not even compare to Diablo 2. Diablo 2 is a far better game. Now i'm so stupid to say that D2 has alot of depth, it's an action-rpg. But its the BEST action-rpg out there hands down.
Diablo 2 has:
- Excellent skill trees that provide many possibilites, various cool-looking FX, and excellent replay value.
- Excellent treasure finding system that generates such a rush when u see something gold drop. There is hordes of interesting treasure.
- Stored characters online that almost completely eliminate cheating.
- Some of the best CG movie sequences ever seen.
Dungeon Siege has:
- Good graphics
- Interesting party control interface
Single player, DS may have a slight edge cus of the cool 8-peeps partys, but in Multi-player, where the REAL fun is, Diablo 2 laughs at DS.

I can't relate to your reasoning--although I'm sure you're right. I hate multi-player with a consuming passion so my interest only extends as far as single-player. _________________ ''Perhaps I'm old and tired but I always think that the chances of finding out what really is going on are so absurdly remote that the only thing to do is to say hang the sense of it and just keep yourself occupied. It's not depth in the traditional RPG sense, I'll grant you that. |

Depth, more than a little |
|
I dont understand why you people can say diablo 2 lacks depth. First off sure the premise is quite simplistic and the story wasnt very fleshed out (though quite good) but the character developement was unequaled by any role playing game I have ever played(My first being savage empire). There is no character developement system I have EVER come across that comes any were close to diablo 2's. Ever class was very uniqe and they all had around 50 different VERY legitimate builds. Sure you could go with the "cooky cutter" firewall sorcerer, werewolf druid, but those are for people who cant come up with something different. One of most entertaining parts of the game was figuring out a build that differs completely from the fad build. Blizzard also came up with ways to make combat as redundent or as involved as you whant it to be. For example you could be the normal firewall sorc or you could swithc off between hydra and chain lightning or frozen orb against immune to cold kritters while teleporting to the most strategic areas. Though this combat defenatly isnt as complex as something like BG or Fallout Tactics but it doesnt aspire to be. If only I could find a RPG with the emense world, beutifull graphics and attention to detail of morrowind. An amazingly deep character developlent system like that found in diablo 2. Third involved combat like that found in nox. And finally an amazing story as good as which was in Betrayal at Krondor. |

good point.
however, if anyone ever tried to stray from the fad on bnet, they were ridiculed, cussed at, and mercilessly slaughtered. i've been on both ends. by the time i finally decided to just give up and make a whirlwind barbarian, gothic came out. hence my memories of bnet are a little less than pleasurable. _________________ =Follower of Righteousness=

I have to say at this stage I prefer DS over D2.
I really enjoyed the original Diablo but D2 was just more of the same...except longer...too long. In the end, you can only hack your way through bland graphic displays for so long.
I just finished the ice caves in DS and while sometimes I feel like sitting back and letting the AI do all the work for me, I enjoy the party dynamic and some of the bigger melees can be quite challenging. The graphics are fantastic and worth the price of admission, of course, which doesn't hurt.

wtf?!?! wut the hell is wrong with u ppl?? ds over d2? "falls out of his chair rollin on the ground" please..... ds's graphics over d2? yea got the vote hands down...but story and gameplay? please...ds's story jus made little or no since to me i mean i thought chris taylor could of did a better job then what he did...maybe he'll fix it in the sequel.. and yeah d2's story made a hell of a lot more since then ds atleast i knew what i was fighting for .. and the only real thang i can think of wrong with the gameplay in d2 is the party system and well if you don't like that then juss play the game by yourself ..you can still play online just make your own games..or if you don't like sharing experience points with people but you want interaction and you want to talk to the people in there and play with them on the same map just don't party with them that way you get your own experience
there that problem got fixed
seems to me that the ppl who think ds is better than d2 needs to get their head fixed |

Btw. if you look on DS forum, that was so full of life for short time and now is completly dead... And if you think about all those long time Diablo 2 funs, you see that there is diference between these two games. |
