I think there are no children in the game in order to comply the with the laws of Germany. I vaguely remember something about this, though I could be thinking of something else. |

It's not a law; other games' European releases (like, for example, the English language European version of Fallout) got nerfed because of the children in it (they were killable which was deemed inappropriate, and thus they were taken out completely, making the plot unplayable until bugfixed).
The Gothic II developers shied the potential implications of adding children (as seen in Fallout) to a game aimed primarily at the European market, that's all.
Violence issues are seen more critical in Europe while sexual content is seen more critical in the United States. |

I'm getting tired of Gothic fans crying about bugs. The number of bugs in the Gothic games are small compared to most average PC games.
You want bugs? Check out Arx Fatalis, TOEE, or any of the Elder Scrolls games.
Those games will make you appreciate how bug free G2 really is. |

I dont think Gothic][ is an average game. Also its a sequel and regarding the success the first and the second game had ,it would be at least the right thing to do, the following;the developers could have spent some more time/money into the issue of "bugs".I dont want to keep this thread a long-read so I want mession other technical problems of both Gothic & Gothic ][ games.
I want my game bug-free.I want what I paid for.I want Gothic games to be what they deserve. And what Gothic games deserve are their fans. _________________ I come from space. From outer space! |

I didn't imply that Gothic was an average game. Even some of the most popular PC games nowadays are released with quite a few bugs.
What do you mean "regarding the success of the first game"? I hate to inform you, but as far as sales go, Gothic was not a huge success. Everyone wants their games to be bug free, not just you. I'm sure the developers spent many hours playtesting Gothic and G2 before they were released but it's nearly impossible to find every bug in games that large. You need to be more grateful for how good these games really are. |

Also, the more RAM you have, the less likely the game is to crash. When I was playing on my machine with only 128mb the game was choppy and would crash every so often. Ever since we upgraded to 384mb the game rarely ever crashes (I think twice) and runs smooth as butter. _________________ OMG! WTF?! MONKEYS!!!!

The Gothic games were great successes in the German-speaking countries... their intended primary market. Especially GII which topped the sales charts for quite some time. |

I'm surprised to hear that the game ran at all with only 128mb of ram. |

G2 may have topped the the charts, but G1 never did. It's a shame really, because both games were the best RPG's to be found at the time of their release. A lot of people never played them because they weren't aware of them, especially here in America. |

My 256MB of RAM didnt work though. The game crashed a lot and not only that I even had to restart"cause it crashed to a black monitor not Windows' desktop. Then other problems started.Boot files broked from the ussual restarts and then FORMAT.But now I am used to do format.I think every gamer who respects hisself/herself does a format in less that 20 min and installs the drivers at lest at 20 min.Thats my record lol. _________________ I come from space. From outer space! |

well if u wanna know there is no game that has no bugs really 100% guaranteed u can allways find bugs if u really try let me bring some examples: Lets say Aquanox 2 if anybody ever heard about it or played(pretty good game if u like adventure/action/underwater sim) there were missions where u needed to pick up little submarines to get trough little holes , i got trough the little holes with the biggest ship same with Gothic 1 and 2 i just strafed sometimes trough the closed doors trough little bugs ( did it sometimes when i failed the missions to get the key or didnt know how to open the door.
Secondly indeed no horses please the best thing still is a teleport door or scroll sometimes but mostly on foot cos then u have more time to play the game what good will it bring if u can finish the game lets say in 1-2 days the game would lose his magic.
Sorry for the english |
