Guys perhaps a good tweak for you Radeon users
   

ok I was playing around with the settings on Ragetweak3d util and noticed that when I enabled W-buffer support on my Radeon 9500 Gothic II runs 100% better. No stutters even in the forest areas, smooth as silk. Bad thing is that my 3dmark scores drop by half when W-buffer is enabled so I need to figure a way to run it only when playing Gothic 2. Hope this helps

Your're right. The game is optimized for W-buffer usage.
(Gothic II prefers it because of the great view distances. But unfortunately there are specific problems with some cards/drivers because (nearly) all games are using Z-buffer...)
