I try to do all quests, but sometime I have to decide I think.
What is the best way / which way is the most interesting or give most exp ? R there any impossible combinations ? (e.g. allied with umpani and rats)

I believe that there's no combination that you can't at least attempt. As one NPC advises you, with the Trang and Umpani, play both sides. Carefully.
