Hiya all,
I've been thinking about making a multiplayer web-based game, about the Romans. I haven't decided whether it will be a strategy game or a RPG, and I have a few ideas for each system on how I'd implement it.
Of course it's going to deviate slightly from history, if I decide to go down the strategy route it would be something like having control over a legion, you have to defeat other legions (other players) or barbarians (AI). If I made a RPG, it would be the player being a gladiator and rising up in skill so he could get rewards in the arena.
So the point of this post is to just ask for some thoughts which you might have on these two ideas on possible improvements, alternative ideas, or any comments really. Thanks!

Romans are cool. I prefer RPGs personally. I can already command legions of Romans in AOE, so I'd be more interested in an RPG-based game than a strategy-based one. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

I don't know. Multiplayer based web game is not exactly the right platform for a true style RPG.
On the other hand, If you do a strategy, with RPG lite elements of the Disciples kind - i.e players form groups/legions/armies etc all by themselves ie. and each soldier in the army is a player, that would be interesting. |
