Yes, it does run, but sometimes you'll need help.

Typically, you should have no problems with Ultimas 4, 5, and 6. There are a few sites concerning Ultimas 1, 2, and 3 that deal with making them run happily on modern systems. Check Dino's Page for a comprehensive list of links to such sites.

Also, concerning Ultimas 7 and 8, there are special tricks needed to run then under expanded memory environments such as Windows. See Dino's Page again for help with Ultima 8. For Ultima 7 (and Serpent Isle), simply get a stable build of Exult (so anything up to version 1.2 will be fine).

Also, there may be NT patches out there. I use Windows 2000 (which is on the NT platform) and I have no problems.
