I have read about 10 comic books in my entire life, and I have sworn to never again pay a monthly fee to play a game. It looks like City of Heroes may change this. It is supposedly going to be an RPG, and I'm always looking for new and unique types of RPG's. I'm glad it won't be out for awhile. It gives me time to buy Neverwinter Nights and Gothic 2.
It will have enough costume options and super powers that your character WILL be unique. Also you can make actual teams and use money to buy mansions and things for your Headquarters. You don't gain exp, but Fame Points. Which will rise each time you kill a villian or complete a mission. They will likewise fall if you fail. There will not be an open PvP, you have to go to an arena. Oh, and it is Massively Multi-Player.
Anyways what do you guys think about this game of super heroes? Is it gonna be big stuff, or will it flop? _________________ His thoughts are whack.

Your right man. I don't know what I was thinking, but I am disappointed that this game will be pay to play. From what I read about it, it will probably be a pretty fun game. _________________ His thoughts are whack.

Why don't you try Freedom Force then. It's a superhero game like City of Heroes but it's not an online game. _________________ Kewl quotes:

Ya I thought about trying Freedom Force. I usually don't like computer games unless they are multi-player. Gothic surprised me, maybe this one will too. _________________ His thoughts are whack.

Freedom Force is a blast single player. It's a campy 60s comic book from start to finish with great character lines and a solid comic book feel to it. You can customize your personal character to your hearts content (though the tougher he is, the harder it is to recruit him during the game).
The game is pretty easy, I admit... especially if you make a bad *** mofo custom character (worth more than 7000 points). That's probably it's biggest single player flaw.
Online there is Deathmatch where up to four players can square off on a variety of maps and, depending on the power level, have fun knocking each other around or knocking each other through buildings (When my online custom takes the field, there is little left of the map at the end of the match!). Of course you have guys who build one trick ponies who can take anyone out in one shot like it was Quake... but if you ask around there are some players who like to take things a little slower and savor the battles.
More multiplay is theoretically coming in a content patch, where you'll be able to make teams and perhaps other forms of multiplay (capture the flag, etc). The game would be sweet with a co-op campaign, that's for sure... but I don't see that happening. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

Freedom Force is a must buy to everyone who enjoyed Marvel comics when they were growing up. The dialogue is hilarious and the whole camp-humor style rocks
Although, as Xen said, it get really easy once you get ~10k points to spend on a custom character. I made a lighting-fast character with fast and powerful punch combos, nothing could stand up to it.
City of Heroes sounds nice and could be interesting, but I think I'll be getting my dose of multiplayer RPGs from NWN, just placed a preorder |

Why are you so much against paying small monthly fee ?
I look at it in this way:
If I go to pizza-hut with friends, I pay between 10$ and 20$ (prices taken from Poland).
OR
If I go to shop to buy food for my family for few days I pay usually up to 25$
OR
During season I pay daily about 1.5$ for ticket for ice-rink. And 2.5$ every 3 - 4 days for sharpening.
OR
I get hungry so I go to nearest fastfood and spend 4$ - 5$ for food.
OR
I buy a book and pay 8$ - 20$ or tocket to cinema for 4$)
OR
.......................
The fact is I spend 2 - 5 dollars every day practically just for nothing.
So why wouldn't I pay 10$ - 20$ ONCE in a month to be able to play some cool time consuming massive multiplayer game ? Such games need constant development, servers cost, bandwidth cost, all other stuff costs. If I know I'm going to play some of upcoming titles regulary, I have no objections to pay small fee for their support (community, server, bandwidth, exp. packs, patches, other). |

Ups, I didn't think about it. I obtained my cards about 6 years ago, so I get pretty used to them. Normally in shops I uses my bank's "maestro" card. In internet I use visa (amazon, yesasia, gamespot recently). You shouldn't get any problems with obtaining visa and/or mastercard in your bank though. |

The only problem with me obtaining a master card from my bank is the fact that they just might not distribute a major credit card to a minor.....heh.... _________________ His thoughts are whack.

Why don't you get your parents to sponsor you for a minimum limit CC under the guise that it'll be good for your future to have an established credit rating. Just make damn sure you pay your bills on time though. _________________ (@) |

Either that or just get them to use their cards and I just pay them back. _________________ His thoughts are whack.
