Couple of tricks, and a Q

Guys,

you've got a great forum. Couple of things I noticed as I started playing:

You can use bow as "radar" - it locks on targets even though you can't see them (b/c of trees, darkness). Then you grab the melee weapon and charge them.

Also, it seems there is a Charge attack in the game. I once killed a Young Wolf with a single blow, and I was just out of the tower, not trained, still with the stick. I was basically running at it and swung forward upon contact.

Now I have a little Q. Is there a hotkey for healing? How do I set which potion/food it uses? (I got the game second-hand, so no manual)

Thanks.

The only fast healing is using potion shortkey, u can change it on in gothic2.ini file.

as far as i know there is a way in which to activate a quickpotion hotkey but which requires you to edit the gothic.ini file. while that may sound somewhat intimidating it's much easier than it sounds (although i'd still make a backup of the original) and also enables you to activate other handy hotkeys such as quicksave/load etc.

Thanks, Legacy and Punter X

Just had a close look at the .ini file, this is indeed easy if you talk about 0/1 settings in [GAME] section, and not entries in [KEYS] section. Although I think I figured out the [KEYS] system, it still can be a mess.

Also, do you know a way to cut down on savegame load time? Mine is like a minute.

The only way I know of to speed up the load times is to get a new computer.l I just got one and it went from minutes to seconds. If there's an easier way, i don't know it.

Welcome to the boards!

Activate quicksave in the .ini and make sure you stand still and do _nothing_ while you use it. Donīt forget to save in a slot every half hour or so.

Loading times depend on your system. Faster hard disk(s) and more RAM can improve it.
