I'm stuck at that beast thing

Where exactly do you use the stone of power to activate that machine to stomp the beast ? I tried using it everywhere and I don't have time to experiment because one hit from that thing and I'm toast ! I saw something in another thread but I still can't figure it out . Help me Mister Wizard !

When you run into the appropriate room, there's a sort of cylindrical "machine" on the opposite wall. There is a socket for the power stone on the right-hand side of that machine. It looks sort of like a screw-fitting for a light-bulb.
